An augmented reality app for John Lewis mobile that allowed the customers to search for a piece they liked. Once found, (in this case, a lamp..) they would then superimpose this piece onto a picture in their photo album or, take a picture with the John Lewis piece in situ. This would give them a fairly realistic view of how the item would like in their home before they made the now educated decision to purchase.
Ikea 'introduced' the exact same thing 18 months later across their worldwide range.
